She has said in interviews that she is selective of her roles and that she is in no hurry to accept all roles that come her way. Vijayalakshmi is a B. Tech graduate from Easwari Engineering College(SRM) and the second out of three girls. Her older sister is a popular television hostess on Makkal TV and married (Karthika of Sol Vilayattu fame). She has a younger sister named Niranjani.
